Working with Narcissists (with CE)
Most clinicians recognize the behaviors—grandiosity, control, manipulation, blame-shifting. And most have felt the frustration of trying to hold a narcissistic client accountable, only to end up in power struggles that go nowhere.
When narcissism is treated as selfishness or simple abuse, therapy often becomes reactive and adversarial. Accountability feels like attack, vulnerability feels unsafe, and the work stalls.
This training reframes narcissism as an attachment strategy rooted in fear and self-reliance rather than connection. You’ll learn how to assess the function of narcissistic behaviors, discern real capacity for vulnerability and change, and engage accountability in ways that preserve your agency and reduce escalation.
When accountability is held within care, it stops being a threat—and starts becoming a path toward real change.
